Well first up the main reason I got it was for full colour maps on the watch with GPS navigation and boy does it still deliver. Starting with the positions, what am I still loving about the watch? Full Colour Maps

I won't go over the watch features again, you can find details on those in my First Impressions post. Now I've had a chance to get over the new shininess off it, how's it holding up? Is it all rainbows and rosebuds? If you’re an athlete, this is your watch.I've been using the Forerunner 945 for over 2 months as of the time of writing. While there are some small setbacks in dealing with GPS accuracy, which the Forerunner 935 is reported to be slightly better at, the added features still make it the best. In conclusion, it’s clear that the premier multisport watch is the Garmin Forerunner 945. The athletes I work with also run Garmin products and I find the data reliable and use it to predict any number of important factors in determining fitness before “A” races. Garmin has been part of my life since I started of in the sport triathlon over 8 years ago. The first one being music, the second being wellness ratings and the third being incident detection. I can also track sleep habits however I will most certainly be upgrading for the key features that matter to me. My data syncs immediately to Training Peaks, Strava, Todays Plan, Myfitnesspal and links into my Apple Health app. I train between 20-35 hours on any given week and that means a ton of Garmin use alongside my Garmin Connect App. The best part about my Garmin is that it just works.

I prefer to use Garmin over any other brand because of their customer service, proven platform and overall ease of use. Over the past 4 years I’ve been using the Garmin Forerunner 935 for swim, bike, run, strength, rowing, hiking and even once while sky diving.

Speaking as an endurance Coach and as a Professional athlete, I don’t start my day without a watch on my wrist. Upgrading from Garmin Forerunner 935 to a Forerunner 945 could be a quite impactful change. Below is a head to head look at some of the key specifications:Ģ weeks smartwatch mode, 36-hours GPS modeĢ weeks smartwarch mode, 25-hours GPS mode However, the Forerunner 945 features the same updated (version 3) Garmin ELEVATE monitor that is also found in the Forerunner 245. Like the Garmin Forerunner 935, the Forerunner 945 also has a wrist-based optical heart rate monitor.

The watch menu navigation is also very simple, making pairing your favorite Bluetooth headphones a breeze. While your song sizes, region and other data limitations may limit how many songs you can sync, Garmin estimates you should be able to hold up to 1000 songs on your watch. With this approach, playlists can be wirelessly synced to your Forerunner 945. The new wave approach is to subscribe to a music streaming service like Spotify, pay for a premium account and download playlists to your phone. While having music on your watch sounds amazing, previous attempts have been a bit complicated (who actually downloads music these days as an mp3?).

The Garmin Forerunner 945 makes music incredibly seamless by connecting to music services like Spotify and Deezer while also allowing mp3 upload capability. Heck, it can even cause some light chaffing while you run and listen to music. Running with your phone on your arm or in a pouch connected to your body sounds easy.
